Three people have died and two others are in hospital following a horror road crash.
Police Scotland were called to the scene in Bothwell, Lanarkshire, at around 4.35am following reports of a crash.
A 30-year-old woman and two men aged 36 and 62 were sadly pronounced dead at the scene, the Daily Record reports.
A 31-year-old man was rushed by ambulance to the University Hospital in Wishaw, where hospital staff describe his condition as critical.
Another man, 42, has also been taken to hospital and is described as being in a stable condition.
The crash involved a Vauxhall Astra on Blairston Avenue near its junction with Bothwell Road.
A police investigation has been launched by Police Scotland with the force urging anyone to come forward with an information.
Chief Inspector Darren Fauldsi, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those involved in this crash.
“Our officers are liaising with the families and providing support.
“Our investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash.
“I would ask any witnesses to the crash, or anyone with information that may assist our investigation to contact us. I would also like to speak to anyone who was driving on this road around the time of the crash and may have dash-cam footage to come forward.”
